Environmental context is really about understanding what’s going on around our organization so that we can map out a plan to help us sustain our work and serve our stakeholders well into the future.

In the first lesson toward your bronze Merit badge, you'll explore:

  • What is environmental context, and why does it matter?

  • The three levels of the nonprofit environment: micro, meso, and macro.

  • How stakeholders experience our work within each of the environmental levels

  • The impact of environmental context on nonprofit sustainability and spotting a nonprofit starvation cycle.
