Proficiency Area: Planning.

Strategic planning is the process we use to enable our nonprofits to achieve their missions. It’s also the overarching ability–or capacity–to plan strategically over time.

In the first lesson toward your gold Merit badge, you'll explore:

  • The basics of motivation and inspiration.

  • The role of self determination theory in motivating yourself and others around strategic planning efforts.

  • Recognizing how self-preservation, altruism, and competition plays into your own motivation.

  • Recognizing and addressing resistance when motivating your teammates around strategic planning.
